OUR MISSION

A Plate of Mind strives to not only teach valuable & exciting cooking skills, but to boost the confidence of our students. Students are thrilled to create an entire meal for their families, set the table, sit down, & enjoy a family meal during a busy week. To us, cooking can take a learner who may be frustrated with traditional learning methods & allow them to blossom & grow. We love to take our students to a new world in the kitchen; one where they are in charge of feeding their families & are truly proud of their creations. The evidence is in the delicious bites, the smiling faces, & the sense of accomplishment that we see after every lesson.

MADELINE DUDEK, FOUNDER

Madeline wanted to blend her background as an NYC public school teacher & combine it with her passion for cooking. After changing careers to become a chef, Madeline attended the International Culinary Center in Soho & went on to work at the Michelin Starred Gramercy Tavern. She started A Plate of Mind with the idea that kids from all learning backgrounds should have a chance to experience the joy that comes from cooking. Seeing the pride & confidence that comes from producing a tangible, delicious meal is evidence that this program works.
